These sessions are intended to bring together (self-identifying) British East and South East Asian creatives to explore different ways of devising in a fun, inclusive space. No devising experience is necessary, however the aim is to have something we can present at a scratch night by the final session - then see where things go from there - so a level of commitment is strongly preferred.
Each session will be facilitated with warm up and devising activities in pairs and groups. In the first couple of sessions these exercises will allow us to get to know each other, explore different ways of devising, and discover the things that interest us as a group. In weeks four and five we will look at bringing together the strongest material, culminating in a small performance at the end of session five.
These sessions are intended for BESEA actors and performers of all levels. The hope is that you will come away with new approaches to devising and a stronger sense of community.
What else do you need to know?
Wear clothes you can move in. If you have mobility or other issues, please try to let us know in advance so we can match the needs and interests of the group as much as possible.
