Hello! I'm excited to announce that my debut play, East to West, will premiere this month at The Playhouse East's Feb Fringe, and is then showing in March at The Etcetera Theatre and The Glitch.
East to West is a queer love story told in rhymed spoken word. It explores the connection that develops between two women, Asha and Nell, living on opposite sides of London, who match on a dating app. As well as celebrating the freedom, joy and possibility of new relationships and queer self-discovery, the play looks at themes of chronic illness, migration, and isolation amongst young adults. It exposes some of the barriers to belonging faced in a politically complex contemporary London, and the care and comfort that makes us feel safe enough to surpass them.
Rooted in my own lived experiences, written while recovering from a chronic illness, East to West has been a great labour of love for me and my all-queer, all female and nonbinary team. We can't wait to bring this piece to life and would absolutely love to have your support!
