Queer Cowboys is a semi-autobiographical play about Freddie, a resident of Oklahoma new to their transgender identity, who combats loneliness by embarking on a mission to discover their “transcestors”. In the process, they excavate two true forgotten stories of the Old West: Harry Allen and Little Joe Monahan, two transgender cowboys.

With beloved country jams performed by a live band, the true stories of these two transgender cowboys are brought back to life.

Queer Cowboys is coming to the King’s Head Theatre for the first time, following a successful world premiere at Wilton’s Music Hall in 2022. It is written and performed by West End star and wannabe cowboy, Freddie Love (Just For One Day, But I’m a Cheerleader), who is a long-time collaborator of the King’s Head. Freddie Love uses a mix of gig-theatre, verbatim theatre, and cabaret to do these cowboys justice.

Musical Director Olivia Zacharia unites the talents of Freddie Love (vocals), Migdalia Van Der Hoven (drums), Ross McTeague (guitar) to bring you all your favourite country songs - with a gay twist. Or were they always gay?

Cult-gay-basement-theatre-legend, Charles Quittner directs this poignant and campy show with Elliot Aitken as Assistant Director. George Jones works set design and props, to transform the space into a campfire evening of storytelling.
