Rukhsati is a one-act play by Saqib Deshmukh that unfolds in an empty, disused women’s toilet in a wedding hall in Tooting. The narrative centres around two characters, Nighat and Tariq, who are in their mid-forties and reconnect after years apart. As they reminisce about their youth, the conversation reveals their struggles with personal choices, societal expectations, and the passage of time. Nighat expresses her feelings of being trapped in her current life, particularly regarding her inability to have children, while Tariq grapples with his responsibilities as a father and husband. As they navigate their emotions, the tension builds, leading to a moment of vulnerability where Tariq hints at a desire to rekindle their past romance, complicating their already fraught situation.

Rukhsati is about love, life and lotas… A seriously funny two-hander based in Tooting which is being staged as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe/Wandswoth Borough of Culture 2025 in partnership with Theatre503.

Step into the participatory playground of This Play is a Dildo and follow a parent-for-hire (nanny) and partner-for-hire (sex worker) on a sweaty, messy, joyous quest for lost queer and sex worker stories, family, and a future worth fighting for.

Expect audience hijinks, collapsing timelines, a dildo (or five), and absolutely no polite distance between you and the story.

Blurring theatre, film, and interactive play, This Play is a Dildo is a sweaty, anarchic reclamation of queer and sex worker voices — no pity, no tragedy, and absolutely no f*cking Sean Baker and NO Cate Blanchett.

Work In Progress.

Futures Festival is a Pay What You Can Event, with 100% of the box office going directly towards supporting the artists and the work you see on stage. We invite you to consider what you might typically spend on a show, and choose the highest tier you feel comfortable with - every pound helps us champion new voices and bold ideas.

Wednesday 30th April 10.00 till 1.00 I’m holding a class in emotional e proration and preparation for actors. £30.00 for the morning. This is a beginners class using techniques to access truthful emotional states without using either emotion memory or fantasy by exploring ‘effector patterns’ essentially ways of breathing and using the body. It’s fascinating work. Email robertprice1869@gmail.com to book a place.
