Dr. Budi Miller's Actor's Intensive comes back to London!
Following last year's success, we are honoured to host another Weekend Intensive led by Dr. Budi Miller this summer.
BMTT London: Unleashing the Actor's Imagination
This transformative workshop offers an immersive experience into the profound techniques of Fitzmaurice Voicework, Clowning, and Mask Work, empowering participants to unlock their creative potential and explore new dimensions in performance. These practices allow performers to deepen their voice, engage their physicality, and embrace a variety of rich, cultural artistic traditions. A central thread of the work is the decolonisation of actor training: returning familiar techniques to their cultural roots and addressing how performers of colour navigate the industry.
The workshop explores:
How ancient mask traditions intersect with contemporary actor training
The Balinese concept of Taksu: a spiritual energy believed to flow through artists, spaces, and objects, pointing to something beyond technique: the quality of presence that makes an audience lean in, the alignment of intention, authenticity, and inspiration that transforms a performance from competent to truly alive
Specialised mask techniques to bridge spiritual awareness and physical embodiment
A deeper connection between the actor-self and character-self, encouraging self-inquiry that goes beyond surface-level technique
One past participant described the experience this way: "Rarely do we as actors get to work with language that is both epic and deeply spiritual — but through Dr. Budi Miller's Taksu Training we dare to throw ourselves into the endless expanse of human experience, stand in the center of our lives, and feel it all."
